The Ram Registry, an annual catalog of ram’s available for breeding, is finally out, much to the delight of Iceland’s sheep farmers.

For the unfamiliar, the Ram Registry offers Iceland’s sheep farmers a chance to see the breeding rams available this season, grouped by region.

More detailed than Tinder, more interesting than OK Cupid, but with less conversation than Grindr, the ram profiles feature not just photographs of the available bachelors. You can also learn their lineage, their past experience, their physical stats and their personalities. Getting your prized ram into the coveted registry is no small feat, as only the best of the best make the cut.

However, a match does not result in a date; as sheep farmer Snædís Anna Þórhallsdóttir told As It Happens, “It’s really more of like a sperm bank, so they don’t really get to meet any ewes. They just produce their donation and then it’s sent to the farms.”

Be that as it may, the Ram Registry is a big part of the reason why the quality of Icelandic meat and wool is as well acclaimed as it is. Next year’s hopefuls for the Registry are already preparing for the competition to come.
